The St Lucian pair of Earl Jean and Titus Elva spurred southerners W Connection to hard fought 2-1 victory over Doc's Khelwalaas in a fifth round Craven A Professional league encounter at Guaracara Park yesterday.
Jean and second half substitute Elva netted in the fourth and 89th minute respectively to push their team to 15 points, maintaining the lead at the top of the eight-team table.
In another fixture played at Apex Ground Fyzabad, Police and CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh battled to a 2-2 draw.
Jabloteh took the lead through Shurland David but Shawn David tied the scores up for the lawmen, who then went 2-1 ahead before the interval by way of a Reginald Gibson item.
Jabloteh found the equaliser in the opening minutes of the second half, courtesy an Otis Seaton header. Both sides are now locked on five points.
At Point-a-Pierre, it wasn't long before Jean put this team ahead when collected a through ball before slipping it past the advancing Roger Henry in goal for the Central side.
Connection should have gone further ahead two minutes later but African striker Abdulai Conteh hit over bar from close up after Henry failed to hold on to to a feeble looking right-side cross.
Doc's soon got into their stride and when Derek King fouled Guyanese Collie Hercules at the edge of the box and Jermaine Scott powered his shot past Connection custodian Anthony Clarke into the left corner of the net.
Some clever plays by the Doc's outfit, particularly Hercules the opposing defenders on their toes. Hercules has scored six goals so far in the league, but didn't do much to trouble Clarke yesterday.
Connection pressed for the advantage but as the final whistle drew near, it appeared that both teams would settle for a share of points.
However, Elva struck the death blow on Doc's when he met Conteh's right side delivery to head past a stranded Henry. Connection have now stretched their winning streak to five.
At the PSA Ground, Pt Fortin Civic Centre held on to a Philbert Jones goal in the 17th minute to beat struggling Futgof 1-0.
